The Description & Meaning of the Flag of FijiThe Fiji flag consists of a light blue background with a British Union jack in the upper left corner. The blue background represents the Pacific Ocean and the Union Jack symbolizes Fiji's link to Britain. Centered on the right side of the flag of Fiji is the country's coat of arms. In the coat-of-arms are three sugar canes, a dove with an olive branch, a coconut palm, and a bunch of bananas. The dove symbolizes peace, and two symbols of the emblem display the colonial past of Fiji. The emblem is divided into quarters by an English St. George's Cross. The golden lion in the emblem that is holding a peeled coconut represents Britain, and so does the cross of St. George of England.
